Wishlist Wednesday!

I have found knock-off wood and I'm in love!

Well, this wishlist is definitely different from my norm... :)

1. A cute work space.

2. an unlimited supply of wood! (mostly to build patio furniture!)

3. Countersink Drill Bits, so the screws don't show.

4. Rubber Mulch for the bubba man to play on.
5. a nice place for shade and to keep the bugs away!

Joseph Smith must have been crafty.

I am fairly certain that Joseph Smith must have been secretly crafty. Many of my favorite craft blogs are run by amazingly creative LDS women. It's a staggering number!

Char @ Crap I've Made- Awesome. Creative. LDS!
Kierste @ Brown Paper Packages- Resourceful, Cute Projects, and LDS!
The Ladies @ Crafting Chicks- Such great ideas, and LDS!

Are you seeing a trend here?!
Even though I may not agree with them theologically, I am thoroughly impressed with the emphasis on family that is shared through their blogs by crafting. It seems like the LDS community really supports motherhood too which I think is awesome and really lacking in our culture as a whole.

So, if you are looking for some fun craft ideas check out these awesome blogs!

adding carpenter to my resume...

I found this awesome website Knock-Off Wood and was determined to make something from it. We set out to Lowe's and after a grumpy conversation we left empty handed. With my OCD in full gear we headed home, put micah to bed and then I headed back out to check out Home Depot. I had a MUCH better experience there and came home with all my supplies. I measured all of the pieces out and then Brian cut the wood. It took us about three hours from start to finish, with a few water breaks in between. (it was 97 out today!) I plan on painting it this fun green color and adding an umbrella.

Here are a few work in progress pictures:

The table top.
Brian measuring an angled board. You can tell a lot by this picture: he his using his old art projects from last quarter as his workspace ON TOP OF HIS CAR! haha.

I also really want to make a play kitchen.
A picnic table for us for our backyard.
A sandbox for Micah.

And a bunch of other things! This is the beginning of our backyard re-do... stay tuned for more! Including a trampoline!!

suggestion box

my nice, sweet, easy to put to bed child has become a holy terror at nap/bedtime. he screams bloody murder for about 30 minutes. At first he will cry for whatever parent is his favorite that day, then he moves onto the other parent, puppies, and then emmy. it's getting ridiculous (and stressful!) any experienced parents have advice?

Delivery?

FYI I would pay big money right now for the following:
Pretzel M&ms
peanut butter m&ms
air-popped popcorn
an iced vanilla latte
and a massage.

The end.

Micah threw a fit today because I wouldn't let him get IN the dogfood container... that was the high point! I also cleaned up puke at dance. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!

Thunder and Lightning and a California Girl

Scene: A stormy NC afternoon. Booming thunder and lightning bolts light the sky.

Lindsay: What do you think it would take for this weather to close the dance studio for the day?
Brian: Loss of power.
Lindsay: Really? The threat of it isn't bad enough to close? Schools close when snow threatens to fall. The threat of losing power isn't enough?
Brian: Not so much, Linds.
