A glimpse.
Scene: Lowe's hardware store in the lumber section. Lindsay is looking for a 4 in by 4 in post. Brian is assisting her.
Brian: How about this one?
Lindsay: No, It's too knotty.
Brian: How about this one?
Lindsay: No, It's too small.
Brian: Listen here, Goldilocks, These two are your only options.

Can't wait to try this!
I'm mostly putting this recipe on here so that I can find it again later, but I really want to try this corn chowder. yum yum! Its from my friend Melissa at Silver Tide Photography.
3 red potatos cubed (1in or smaller)
4 stalks of celery
about 1.5 cups of carrots diced
one red onion diced
2 cloves of garlic, 1 can of whole corn (with liquid),
1 can of creamed corn,
basil,
salt/pepper,
2 tbsp butter,
1... 1/4 cup of water,
2 or 3 cubes chicken boullion
crock pot it. Cook on low for 8ish hours, or 5 on high, mix a little half and half or whipping cream with about 1.5 tbsp corn starch to thicken, then add 10oz cream to the crock pot w/ the starch mixture and let cook for another 30 mins. I added some red pepper flakes (like a teaspoon, maybe 2, I like it a little spicy), and a good dose of Lawrey's Seasoning salt, and because I was especially lazy - added a large can of chicken chunks.
Yum! Seriously.

Hmm.
I had a dream the other night that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive, but then I looked at the box and the test had expired in 2003.
weird, huh?
*Don't even think this means that I'm pregnant. I'm very certain it does not.

Micahsso!
Micah has become quite the little Picasso lately! He likes to draw on anything I will let him. Grocery lists, paper, receipts have all become little works of art. We have had a few casualties lately. Namely, the computer screen at the dance studio and this little beauty.
Yes, that would be the wall in our living room. Thank goodness for Magic Erasers!

Warning! TMI ahead!
I warned you, so if you are reading this far you are going to know a lot about me in the next few seconds...
So, I have been beyond exhausted lately. Like I can't keep my eyes open kind of tired. Like I took a four hour nap on Sunday and Brian had to wake me up because it was 7pm and we hadn't eaten dinner yet. So I went to the doctor and she did some tests. Fortunately, I dont have Kaiser anymore so I actually got answers AND follow appointments! hooray!
My bloodwork came back to show that I have had mono at some point in my life, but it isn't active now. (craziness! I had no idea. How can you have mono and not know?!?!) My thyroid is on the high end of normal and so more tests are being done and I am waiting on those results. (This could explain why I can't lose weight lately!) My vitamin D is SUPER low which could explain the fatigue! I am being put on a giant dose of vitamin D. The over the counter vitamin D supplement is 1,000 iu. I am being put on a 50,000 iu supplement. (Hooray! Problem AND solution! I love answers!)
If you thought that was more than you wanted to know about me than stop reading now!

Tomorrow I start my prep for a colonoscopy on Friday. EEEK!
The gluten free diet has cut my stomache aches from 4-5 a week to one every 10 days or so, but because I'm still having issues they dr wants to take a look at(in?) my intestines. I am really dreading this, not going to lie. I shall be tweeting the whole miserable process on friday. Stay tuned!

Surgery!
Micah had his second surgery today! I was smarter this time and remembered my camera!

Brian picked out his jammies for the special occasion. Monsters, of course! We arrived at the surgery center 20 minutes before it opened. Awesome. They finally opened the doors at 6:15 am and we waited in the waiting room for awhile.

We went to target last night and picked out a pair of socks so that I could make some baby legwarmers for him. B and I both agreed that blue would look nice with a hospital gown. The nurse brought the hospital gown over to us and Brian leaned over to me and said, "Oh man! We should have called and asked what color their gowns were!" haha. Only someone in Art School would be sad that his son's legwarmers didn't match his hospital gown!

Micah and Brian did some investigating/entertaining as we waited for the anesthesiologist.

Micah thought this was really funny, but there wasn't anything coming out of the tubes!

Micah decided to review his chart for the nurses.

He spent some more time playing with daddy as we waited for the doctor to come by and give the final ok to head in to surgery!

Then, Micah got fussy and bored and hungry and I thought it would be a good time to take a picture. Silly me.
Micah hung out on daddy and then the nurse finally arrived to take micah to surgery.

We sat down in the waiting room for about ten minutes before we heard micah SCREAMING in recovery. We changed him into clothes to go home and Micah proceeded to scream the entire ride home. We came home and took a nap and then got some lunch. He is doing fine now and playing happily! Yay!

Initiation.
I've been initiated to the mom club. Finally! 17 months after giving birth I have finally gotten my first set of dark under-eye circles! Micah had the roughest night he's ever had. We put him to bed at 8pm and he fussed, cried, and talked to his stuffed monkey for an hour and a half. at 9:30 we got him out of his crib and he sat on my lap then reached for brian and sat on his lap. Reached for me as soon as he hit brian's lap. Wash, rinse, repeat eleventy billion times. 10:30 we put him back in his crib.
{sidebar: He has been a snotty mess for, OH, the last 4 weeks or so and the doctors won't give him any more antibiotics for fear of developing an immunity to them, especially with his tubes being put in in one week! (Hallelujah!) }
11pm and he is still fussing, crying, talking to his monkey so we do what any normal, exhausted, has to wake up in the morning and work parent does and we bring him in bed with us. He lays upside down on our bed, cries, lays on brian sideways, cries, stands up, sits down, fight fight fight!
So FUN! not. We put him back 9n his bed at 12:30. For the next 5 hours he alternates between crying, yelling, talking to his monkey and a few 5 minute moments of peace. Really, 5 hours! I bring him in our bed again at 5:40 and he fi.na.lly. falls asleep at 6 and sleeps until 9:30am.
He is taking a nap right now and we are headed to the doctor's office at 4. And of course I'm supposed to be at work at 4. Thank goodness they are flexible, but my oh my I need to be a stay at home mom just so sickness wont stress me out like this!

Thoughts on life.
When things are important to you, you make them work!
There is a volunteer that I have and she volunteers every other week during 2nd service. There are two services. There was a mix up on my end with the weeks she was supposed to be scheduled, my paperwork said she worked 1st and 3rd sundays, she really works 2nd and 4th. Understandably, she got a little irritated when I kept scheduling her incorrectly and she had to email me. As it turns out, she was in need of a sub this week. We JUST got the 1st and 3rd Sundays filled with a volunteer because we had one leave with a big medical emergency. So she emails me and says "we're out of town this week. Can you find us a sub?" I emailed her back with the info of the volunteer who works the opposite weekends and asked her nicely to find her own sub. She did. All is well, right?
not so much.
I get an email today asking if I can please put together a sub list because it is really hard on them to only go to service two times a month. We have two services every Sunday, so I'm not really sure why she couldn't just come to first service. If it's important to you, you figure it out and make it work! Apathy isn't very becoming on anyone, especially when they are complaining about the situation. If you have the issue with it, then you need to fix it!
