so, i have depression and anxiety. it is generally well controlled by a low dose anti-depressant, that we affectionally refer to as my "happy pills." pregnancy and birth have definitely heightened my anxiety.
i am seriously terrified that grayson is going to die. i worry that she will stop breathing. i have an angelcare monitor, which is a pad that goes under her crib and then alarms if she stops moving for 20 seconds. it has brought me some peace, but it went off twice the other night and i had to wake her up to get her to breathe again. i'd really rather her not leave my arms, let alone my sight!
i talked to my dr about this and she assured me that these thoughts weren't uncommon and that she thinks post partum depression should really be called post partum anxiety. what's unnerving is that if someone were to say, "she's not going to stop breathing." that would not be comforting because i have seen her stop breathing! in the hospital, on monitors, she stopped breathing several times in the NICU.
she just needs to stay healthy and in turn so does the rest of our family too! please pray the awful bronchitis i have doesn't effect her... that breastmilk has to be good for something!
