How To: Make Doll Leggings

This is my first tutorial, so bear with me! Here I will show you how to make leggings for your doll.

Step one: Gather your supplies!
Here I have my 12" Dragonfly's Hollow Doll,
a ruler
scissors
a pen
a pair of women's knee socks.

Step 2: Measure how long you would like your leggings to be. Mine is about 5" (If you have a taller doll it will be a larger number)

Step 3: Measure the length you want and cut them. The top of the sock is going to be the bottom of the legging.

Step 4. Measure your doll's inseam. (My doll's was about 3.5 inches)
Step 5: With your two socks stacked, mark the length of your doll's inseam on the right edge of the top sock. (On my socks it a little dot on the white stripe.) Make a backwards J shape going upwards and ending at your inseam dot. (look at the next picture. It will make more sense. My pen doesn't show up well on the sock.)

Step 6: Cut out your J shapes. Separate socks so that they are next to each-other. Step 7: Cut a straight line along the inseam so that your sock becomes a flap. (The inseam is the one I'm pointing to) Do this to both socks.
Step 8. Spread your sock out so that it makes a flap that looks like this. Also, turn it upside down so that the ugly side of your fabric is facing you.
Step 9: Stack your 2 sock flaps on top of eachother and make sure the ugly side of the fabric is facing out on both sides.
Step 10: Sew your two J shapes together. You can use a zig zag stitch, a straight stitch, or a serger. Don't forget to backstitch!
STep 11: While holding the two seams that you have just sewn push the sock together so that the seams are now the front and back of your leggings. (Look at picture below for clarification)
Step 12: Sew along the bottom "U" to make the legs!
Ta-Da!
If you are feeling very fancy, you can add a casing at the top and insert elastic, but they stay up just fine without it. Please comment and let me know if any part of this is unclear. Thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial. But I'm in love with your doll, especially her beautiful orange hair.
